I must thank my chiropractor, Dr. Heidi Fennel, for lighting a fire under me. I had told her how grateful I was to be making art but then whined that it was just piling up in my studio. It seemed a little self serving, and that is not really what I am about. She challenged me to take the necessary steps to get my work out of the studio before my next visit. Apparantly that is exactly what I needed. She also kindly invited me to hang some of my work on her office walls during the grand opening of her new space in October!
Another marvelous invitation was extended to me by my good friend and Arts Perspective magazine publisher, Heather Leavitt. The winter issue of Arts Perspective is themed Art of Healing, and I have been asked to submit relevant images of my artwork to be considered for publication. I am very excited about that, especially because that issue will be in color, whereas it is normally a black and white magazine.
Yesterday I formulated a list of upcoming art competitions that interest me. The list states the venue, deadline, fee, and what I need to get done to enter. So far I have about eight on the list for the next few months. That ought to keep me busy and focused! It is also a vehicle for moving my artwork out of the studio and into the public eye where it can serve it's purpose. Praise God!! What a joy that will be!
