The painting above called "Abiding Love," was made with the happy couple in mind and they graciously accepted it as a wedding present. My friend has been serving our country in Kuwait and this painting became a prayer for the steadfast love of God to protect and bless him, his new bride, and their marriage. It is the most prayer filled painting that I have painted thus far.
As I said I have known my friend for many years, and although we have lived on opposite ends of the country and have been out of contact at various times for many years, we always just pick up where we left off. That kind of friendship is a special treasure.
Children are a special treasure also and there were many daughters involved in this celebration! It was marvelous to talk with his two daughters who are now increasing their talents in college. I mentioned to one that I had drawings of her mother and she was delighted and expressed interest in them. So as soon as I got home, I went to my studio and found these prismacolor pencil drawings that were made many years before she was born!
So I chose the following 7" x 5" painting called "Spirit on the Road" for the exhibit. In this small painting, the diamond has attained the symbolic image of the Holy Spirit, the constant companion and guide for the believer on the road of faith.
