As the fires rage, I am reminded of a painting I made last year. It was part of my Heart of Gold series that was based on scripture in First Peter which implies that trials are to faith, as fire is to the purification of gold. This painting is called, “Tested.”
All the painting that I’ve done this week was on the walls in my daughter’s bedroom. We are preparing to venture into new territory for us, that of home schooling. My daughter chose the colors of pale yellow green and a soft blue. At first, we both thought it looked like a nursery! Now with the colorful maps and artwork on the walls, and all of her things, it looks quite lovely, and appropriate for an eighth grader. It is very light, and seems cool and refreshing! I think it will be a very nice place in which to learn.
In my own studies this week, I became aware of Isabel Parlett and Parlance Training. She promotes a new language for business that I believe will help me to more accurately describe my work as an artist, first for myself and then to others. The first few letters and free lessons that I have already received have opened my heart and challenged my way of thinking about my work.
