My intention is to write something positive in every blog, and also my intention to write a blog every week. This is the second week and summer is definitely here. I am very hot and pretty cranky, but I will proceed.
Here are the few things I have accommplished lately. I went to Aaron Bros. buy one get one for a penny canvas sale and now have 10 blank canvases. I got 2 30 x 40's, 2 18 x 36's, 2 14 x 18's, and 6 12 x 16's.
My mother in law gave me a box of 12 x 16 canvases that she had leftover from when she used to paint. She was very good at painting realistic still life's. She could paint them from her imagination. I find that amazing. Anyway, I found that I really liked working with that size canvas. I used all in the box for painting things that just came to mind. Not serial pieces, no great symbolism involved, just stuff. So that is why I got half a dozen more, but considering I painted the previous six in about a week, I may need to go back and stock up before the sale is over!
Another thing that I did was purchase several frames at a rummage sale. Some I put to immediate use, others will be put to use later. It is hard for me to pass up a 16 x 20 frame with glass for $2. I got several.
At the beginning of 2009 I got a different type of planner, thinking I didn't need the same kind I had before when I worked with massage appointments. That was a mistake. I discovered that I still need the weekly one because it works for me really well, and the daily one does not. So I finally got the one I like from Franklin Covey, and next year I will do myself a favor and get the right one first. I expect that having a planner that is easy for me to work with will help me tremendously to be more organized, and feel more businesslike.
I also investigated some California art associations, the arts council, and noted a variety of exhibition opportunities that are available over the next six months. Now that I have received my helpful planner, I will be able to formulate a timeline of deadlines, and application steps.
There were some other good things that happened especially regarding a collector in Alaska, and also having the opportunity of showing my artwork to a new friend. This week there was an outflow of money on supplies: canvas, frames, planner pages, but I have to believe that it is all necessary and will create an inflow soon.
Listing all the little steps that I took since the last blog was very helpful to me. I feel better, more enthusiastic, and motivated to do more. I think my crankiness has abated. It also seems to be a little cooler. Thank God!
