It seems I may be a bit influenced by pegboard at the moment...
I readily admit that I make art for my personal well being, but I have found that many times the art I make is not for me. Sometimes I don't get it, and may not even think a piece is very good. Yet when I show it anyway, I often have someone say, "I really like that piece." Like this one. My son saw it this morning and said that very thing. That's when I realized, it's not always about me. Good to know!
I wanted to post this painting yesterday, in honor of the Honey Moon on Friday the 13th but realized that I didn't have a photo of it--just a SLIDE!!
This painting was selected by Lake Gallery in Tahoe City, CA for the 1987 Artists' Liaison Catalog and multi media presentation held at Brand Library in Glendale. That happened before I moved to California! I was so excited about it! My artwork got to California before I did.
At the time I lived and had a studio on the Southside of Birmingham, AL in a brownstone building on the corner of 21st St. and 13th Ave. The painting was inspired by a walk home in the moonlight.
a project of showing artwork 6 days a week that lasted from January until June, 2014. In July it became sporadic, and as you can see August 1st is the last entry. It was a fun project, one I may repeat again in the future. Please enjoy scrolling through the artwork.
Below are a few responses:
